A True Story: Marines Never...
What we are about to share is a true story...
A graduate student set out to answer the question, "Can you give more than 100%." He conjured up a test and found the perfect candidate, a marine that ran 21 marathons, a guy who was trained never to quit.
He set up a physical stamina test, and the marine would perform the test each week for 5 weeks. During the first test, the marine had no clock and was told, "Go till you can't anymore." He reached 27 minutes.
The student told him he did 28 minutes and that they would test again next week. The next week they performed the same test, but the marine was told to beat his time of 28 minutes and had a timer. He went 28.10
(70 seconds more than his first attempt).
The following week they tested again but without a timer, and the marine went 26 minutes, but the student told him he did 28.15. Once again, they tested with the clock, and the marine beat his time. On the final test, the timer was removed, and the marine only made it 26.30.
The stone-cold truth is this. Those that set clear goals reach them.
