The Fitness/Diet Cycle Explained
This week we want to share with you the fitness/fad cycle. Once you determine where you are in the cycle, you can break free!
Fitness/Diet Cycle
Start
It's official! Enough is enough. Your intrinsic motivation has overcome the inertia of inactivity. At this point, nothing can stop you. You share your newfound inspiration with all those around you and expect them to match your current level of commitment.
Lower energy intake (restrict calories) while upping activity (burning more calories)
Part of starting a new journey/program includes watching what you eat (aka reducing caloric intake). Increased activity level means more caloric expenditure to help accelerate our results. You've now created a significant calorie deficit on a daily basis.
Energy Balance
Willpower is not strong enough to overcome our cravings. Our bodies like balance and living a long enough time with an extensive caloric deficit chip away at our willpower. This isn't because our diet was wrong; it's simply because we cut too heavy, and our body cannot continue to sustain not receiving a balance of energy. Since we live with consistent food advertisements, access, and accommodation - our willpower is less effective.
Fall Off The Wagon
The pace we started isn't sustainable; we have caved in. Resetting every weekend slows us down, and now we've just completely stopped. The intention of restarting rests inside our hearts, but we now have to wait until the intrinsic motivation overcomes the inertia of being at rest.
Top reasons people fall off the wagon.
Vacations
Sickness
Injury
If you have been in this cycle before and tasted the fiery wrath of the ups and downs - we feel your pain but want you to know there is a better way!
