January Goal Setting
January is a great time to start the year strong! Setting goals this month to start your fitness and health journey can be achieved in these easy steps.
- Define Your Purpose
- What motivates you? Want to lose weight, build strength, improve endurance, or just stay active?
- Write down your "why" to keep yourself focused.
- Set SMART Goals
- Specific - don't say you want to get fit, set a goal like, "I will attend 3 kickboxing sessions a week."
- Measurable - track your progress
- Achievable - set goals that match your current fitness level and schedule
- Relevant - align your goals to your overall health and fitness goals
- Time-bound - set a deadline for your goals - like holding a plank for 1 minute by the end of March 2025
- Start Small and Build Momentum - attend 1-2 classes a week and build to 3 or 4 classes a week. Focus on mastering basic kickboxing skills and form
- Track Your Progress - use a fitness journal or an app to log workouts, weight, milestones, etc.
- Embrace Variety - kickboxing offers a mix of cardio, strength training and techniques
- Fuel Your Body - proper nutrition, hydration and recovery days all help maximize results
- Build a Community - working out with friends is so much more fun
- Celebrate Milestones - reward yourself when you reach smaller goals, like throwing a perfect combo or attending 8 classes a month
Remember that you don't have to start it all on day one. Tackle your goals one day at a time and make those plans for a better you in 2025.
